Liverpool fans when it comes to midfielder fitness ahead of the big showdown with Chelsea this coming weekend.
The Reds' midfield maestro had to bow out at the interval during the narrow 1-0 victory against Crystal Palace earlier in March, nursing a slight issue with his right adductor muscle. But Mac Allister jetted off to South America to link up with the Argentina squad for their World Cup qualifying face-offs against Venezuela and Bolivia.
Though he didn't grace the pitch in Argentina's recent stalemate against La Vinotinto last Thursday, having been sidelined from team training beforehand, there's now word from Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni that revered No. 10 is back in training. He which would then mean he should be in contention for the Premier League at the weekend.
"Alexis trained normally (Sunday) and today we will decide if he is fit to play. We will know after training," Scaloni said during a press conference. Adding to the upbeat buzz, in Argentina reports "good news" on the Mac Allister injury front. It says that he has been "responding smoothly" to the latest drills.
It goes without saying that will be crossing his fingers for a sprightly Mac Allister when comes to Anfield, especially considering the Blues have been in good form with former Leicester City head coach Enzo Maresca at the helm. Currently claiming the fourth spot on the Premier League leaderboard, this could be Liverpool's biggest test yet this season.
The Reds have triumphed in nine out of their first 10 matches under Slot across all competitions. However, the upcoming Sunday face-off with Chelsea signifies the beginning of a challenging series of games for the Reds. After that are matches with RB Leipzig and Arsenal in the and the Premier League respectively.
Liverpool.com says: Mac Allister appears to have been carefully managed by Argentina, which is a good sign ahead of so many Liverpool fixtures. Slot will have to be just as careful with his squad management in the coming weeks.
