Arne Slot launched a foul mouthed rant as he accused of time-wasting

Slot was booked in the second half as he claimed the officials thought he was swearing at them when he insisted he was shouting in frustration at his own defender Ibrahima Konate. Arsenal twice blew the lead and were pegged back by but it is not the first time they have been accused of using dark arts this season as also said they were guilty of running the clock down.

Liverpool boss Slot, who was cautioned for the second time this season, said: “Last time I said that I completely deserved the yellow card but this time I don’t think I did.

“I said after there were so many times that they were on the floor, which can happen so many times in football. I don’t blame them for that but it always happened after they had ball possession. That took the energy out of the game in my opinion.

“So I said to Ibou ‘this is a f***ing joke’ and the fourth official thought i said to him ‘you are a f***ing joke; but that’s definitely not what I said. But I got a yellow for that and now I’m on two and I have to be careful now.”

Slot was reluctant to admit his team are in the title race but added: “The only thing I look at is can you get a result in a difficult away game as this one? The way we did it pleased me a lot and to see we can compete with such a strong Arsenal team, in their stadium.”

Arsenal boss , whose side were patched-up because of injuries and a suspension to William Saliba, finished the game with another worry as Gabriel went off after hurting his knee.

But Arteta was unhappy at the way his team twice lost the lead but refused to comment on referee Anthony Taylor who ruled out a late effort by kai Havertz and waved away first half penalty appeals.

Arteta said: “I prefer not to comment. I’m very disappointed that we haven’t won the game today. I think we were better.”
