Blue Bloods star admits she's 'still hanging on to hope' that season 15 will happen

Blue Bloods star Abigail Hawk has admitted she still has hope that CBS will reverse its decision to cancel the long-running cop drama.

The popular long-running series follows the Reagan family, led by Commissioner Frank Reagan (played by Tom Selleck) as they solve crimes and tackle police issues around New York.

Hawk is beloved by fans for portraying Frank’s stalwart primary aide Detective Abigail Baker in all 14 seasons of the hit show.

Sadly, Abigail’s story will be coming to an end along with the Reagans’, as it was announced back in November 2023 that the now ongoing 14th season would be Blue Bloods’ last.

Speaking to Screen Time, Hawk revealed she’s still trying to remain optimistic about the show’s potential future.

“Of course, we are sad, but you never know,” she said.

“I mean, yes the set is gone, but with the professionals we have in our industry it would take two seconds to rebuild a set like that if it came to that.

“So there’s still a little teeny bit of a silver needle somewhere in the hope haystack and I’ll hang on to it.”

After wrapping up production this summer, Hawk reveals the sets used on Blue Bloods are now totally destroyed, seemingly closing the book on the Reagans’ journey.

However, defiant comments from Selleck and the show’s fans earlier this year have proven there is still a high demand for more seasons, even if CBS execs have officially pulled the plug.

“I think the resolve is there,” Hawk adds. “We know that it’s done, but, like Tom Selleck’s memoir, his memoir’s titled You Never Know. And I think that hope can move mountains.

“There’s a void left by our show. And I think that, in time, the higher-ups will come to regret it.”

Moreover, Hawk maintains that every member of the cast, which also includes Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan and Will Estes, would still be ready for more at the drop of a hat.

“I would say that every single one of us as far as the cast is concerned, we are all ready and willing and able to work, to continue,” she went on. “So that desire is there.

“But it’s out of our hands at this point. We have clearly seen that. So, just know that this was not something that people were going, ‘Okay, well I’m ready to hang up my hat and move on’.

“No. There are so many stories that are left to tell. Because that’s the beauty of these characters. Life just continues.

“I’m excited for what’s next, but, of course, there’s a huge piece of me that’s just sad.”

Will Blue Bloods continue for a surprise 15th season or perhaps even a new spin-off? For now, only time will tell.

Blue Bloods season 14 continues Fridays on CBS.
