has been at the centre when her former pal Phillip was sacked from the daytime show over an illicit affair with a much younger colleague. when the mother-of-three revealed that he had lied to her - and ITV bosses - about the relationship, and since then, there has been no love lost between the pair.

Many of Phil’s former colleagues have distanced themselves from the veteran TV presenter, but in recent months some famous faces reportedly reached out to support him, including Joanna Lumley, who encouraged Phil when his comeback show Cast Away debuted on Channel 5. Holly abruptly left the show after 14 years of presenting the hit show in October last year, and her exit from This Morning left fans heartbroken after months of scandal that surrounded the much-loved programme. “To everyone who has ever worked on the show over the years, thank you so so much. To every guest who has sat on our sofa, thank you,” she wrote in her emotional statement.

“Most of all, thank you to the wonderful viewers. You’ve been so loyal, so supportive and the very best company every day. Richard and Judy said, ‘We only look after this show, it will always belong to the viewers.’ It’s been an honour to just be part of its story and I know this story has many chapters left to go. Sadly, however, I now feel I have to make this decision for me and my family,” Holly continued. “I will miss you all so much.”

Her exit from the show did little to temper any resentment from her ex-pal Phil, who admitted he sent Holly a grovelling message after news of his affair emerged, but she ignored it. In one episode of his Cast Away reality series on Channel 5, Phil took aim at “three s***s” at ITV who he claimed had a hand in his downfall, with many speculating that Holly was one of the unnamed trio.
