son Tom Parker Bowles has quietly let slip the adorable nickname his children call their grandfather , as part of an unexpected glimpse into his own relationship with the monarch.
Parker Bowles, 49, appeared on Love Your Weekend with where he fondly revealed the special nickname his children Lola, 17 and Freddy, 14 call the King, while detailing their close knit bond. Reflecting on what it’s like to be related to a royal, Tom explained: “The children, of course, don’t really know any different. So ‘Uppa’, as they call the King, they’ve grown up with this man that they all love and think is wonderful.”
Yet while Charles may just be a perfectly normal part of their upbringing, he did go on to explain that his stepfather’s royal status was something that very few people let his children forget, with many people constantly reminding them of his impressive title.

“People ask them and they are like, ‘What? It’s just Uppa!’,” he continued. “So yes, I mean, a healthy perspective I think, but you have to keep saying, ‘It’s the King. Get out your tracksuit bottoms!’.”
During the same interview, Parker Bowles also shared a sweet nod to his mother too, as he praised her skills as a doting grandmother to his children, particularly when it comes to cooking his favourite meal.
“She is a really good grandmother so we go down to her house in Wiltshire and that’s where we can relax,” he explained before going on to detail some of her surprising skills in the kitchen.
Describing his mother as a “basic English cook”, Tom revealed that the Queen doesn’t like to use meticulous measurements when cooking or even follow recipes. He also added she wasn’t much of a baker either - but did have one signature crowd-pleasing dish, her roast chicken which has become a firm family favourite.
Last month, Tom also spoke out about how his mother had been handling her husband’s cancer battle, as he told the Daily Express “[The] doctor says the treatment is going well. She’s tough, my mother.”
The King was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer back in February, and briefly stepped back from royal duties to undergo treatment and get his health back on track. Although Charles is still undergoing treatment, his condition did thankfully improve enough to undertake some public engagements over the past few months, with Queen Camilla firmly at his side for many of them.
