Disney+ is gearing up to release its star-studded series Rivals, featuring the likes of actor Alex Hassell butt what other roles has this talented actor taken on?

The highly anticipated drama, set in the 1980s and based on Jilly Cooper's novel, will be available in full on Disney+ from Friday, October 18.

The plot revolves around a bitter feud between power-hungry TV boss Lord Tony Baddingham, played by David Tennant, and ex-Olympian turned Tory MP Rupert Campbell-Black, portrayed by Alex Hassell.

While Tennant's illustrious career, including roles in and Broadchurch, is well-known, many viewers may not be as familiar with his co-star Hassell.

In recent years, he's landed some significant roles, such as The Seven's invisible superhero Translucent in Prime Video's The Boys and Rick in the drama Everything Now.

Fans of literature might also recognise him as Metatron from the adaptation of His Dark Materials two years ago.

Fans are keenly awaiting Hassell's return after his latest Disney+ hit Young Woman And The Sea, where he shared screen time with Daisy Ridley and Stephen Graham.

The actor is making waves with buzz around Rivals' premiere, especially since he is rumoured to be featured in a rather risque scene on the Concorde with journalist Beattie Johnson, portrayed by Annabel Scholey.

Speaking about Rivals' intimate sequences, Hassell revealed how the cast and crew tackled these scenes to What To Watch: "The show is about relationships, adultery, monogamy and power, and sex can be a big part of these characters' stories.

"We had important safe-guardings in place, with intimacy coordinators and discussions about what we felt comfortable with.

"Plus, we were blessed with a great cast, and everyone was so nice, relaxed and game. It was a lovely atmosphere."

Rivals premieres on Friday, October 18, on Disney+.
