has candidly opened up about the frightening aspect of her that left her 'terrified' and resulted in her being put on bed rest.
At 26, Richie, alongside her beau Elliot Grainge, 30, welcomed their bundle of joy, daughter Eloise Samantha Grainge, back in May. The couple managed to keep the details of her pregnancy under wraps for the most part, however, behind closed doors, Sofia was dealing with a terrifying ordeal.
Now, the model spilling the beans on some of the hurdles she faced during her pregnancy journey on the new podcast, She MD, hosted by none other than her OBGYN, Dr. Thais Aliabadi, and women's rights champion Mary Alice Haney.
Sofia reminisced about a morning when she woke up feeling utterly exhausted, plagued with cramps and backache. She initially brushed it off as typical pregnancy woes but opted to touch base with her doctor just in case a decision she now considers a stroke of luck.

"She was like, "You know what? Actually, I think you should go see the fetal specialist to monitor, to make sure that everything's okay, and then you'll go home. It's not a big deal,"' the style icon recounted.
"Thank God she said that, because they hooked me up to the monitor and they were like, 'You're in active labor,"'at 32 weeks,' she disclosed. Subsequently, Sofia found herself at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, where she underwent additional monitoring and received IV fluids.
What was supposed to be a brief hospital visit turned into a six-night ordeal, she divulged. Dr. Aliabadi shed light on the fact that premature labor can stem from various causes, including stress, infection, or trauma. Sometimes things just occur out of the blue, with no apparent trigger.
Sofia opened up about her experience, saying: "It was intense, I gave birth and I was like, wow, 'I really did that,' as she reflected on the momentous event. "I did six weeks or however many weeks of contractions, and I have my beautiful daughter, I'm healthy, I'm safe, she's healthy, she's safe,' she expressed with relief and joy."
However, for Sofia, the ordeal wasn't over just yet. After a brief two-day stint in the hospital, the model recounted coming home only to find herself swelling up dramatically. "Then, I went home, and I blew up like a balloon, quite literally just swelled," she shared, detailing the alarming post-birth development.
In distress, she reached out to her doctor, who she commended for being 'on top if it,' promptly sending a nurse to assist her. Subsequent tests revealed a shocking discovery for Richie her had skyrocketed to 165/103, indicating postpartum preeclampsia, a severe condition affecting blood pressure. Some warning signs of this condition include , swelling, and vision issues.
Thankfully, Sofia and her daughter Eloise are now healthy, and she seems to be enjoying every aspect of motherhood. She revealed in an August interview with just how much becoming a parent has changed her.
"I'm a very scheduled, organized person. I'm very type A, clean and organized," she said. "But I've also learned that I don’t have to be that way, because when you have a baby, all of that kind of goes out the window. I've learned that I'm more flexible than I think."
