Teenage girl shot and killed in front of boyfriend after hunter 'mistakes her for a deer'

A teenage girl out for a stroll with her boyfriend by a hunter who “mistook her for deer”.

A criminal case for negligence has been opened after Elizaveta Orlova, 18, was shot from behind when she was walking near Krasnopolyanskoye village in . The bullet passed through her and exited through her abdomen.

She was rushed to hospital where she was operated on, but she died of her injuries. Investigators revealed the hunter, a 42-year-old man named only as Yury, used a thermal imaging sight on his Vepr rifle and had earlier seen roe deer at Elizaveta’s location.

When he then saw something moving, he took the shot. Her boyfriend said: “I heard a shot, and Liza [Elizaveta] fell.

“The bullet hit her in the buttock and exited through her abdomen, hitting her finger. Yury helped take Liza to the hospital in Baikalovo.

The hunter’s Vepr hunting rifle and ammunition has been confiscated. He faces a maximum sentence of two years in jail if convicted.

The Russian investigative committee said: “As a result of the shooting, the girl, who was in the line of fire, received a gunshot wound.

Investigators “saw no reason to doubt” his account about believing he was shooting at a deer. An informed source told KP-Ekaterinburg: "He said the previous evening he was sighting a thermal imager and saw a herd of roe deer. He fired three shots at them from a Vepr hunting rifle. However, the hunter mistook people for animals.”

It comes after a influencer known for having the ' ’s biggest lips' was found dead in a sewer weeks after she mysteriously vanished. Kristina Rei, 35, had disappeared in Black Sea resort Sochi in late September, sparking a month-long search by which ended with her body being found and identified by tattoos.

Officers are now investigating whether she was swept away by surging sewer water or if there was foul play over the death of the internet star, known as Miss Lips.
