Ever since the 8th Pay Commission was approved by the Government of India, many speculations have been made about the salary of the employees. The speculations are related to the salary and fitment factor of the employees. This time, the employee organizations are demanding to implement the fitment factor be implemented up to 2.86. If this is implemented, then the minimum salary of the employees can increase to Rs 51,480, and the pension can increase to Rs 25,740. However, there are many complications in this. Salary does not increase just by having a high fitment factor. Let us understand it in detail. Also, let us know what is the fitment factor.
The fitment factor is a multiplier, which the government uses to increase the salary of the employees. Usually, the basic salary is calculated by multiplying the minimum salary by the fitment factor. But this system does not work on salaries of all levels. However, if we talk about the fitment factor being demanded in the 8th Pay Commission, it is 2.86. If the government accepts this demand, then the salaries of the employees can increase. But there is some problem in this, to understand which we need to look at the fitment factor and salary hike implemented in the previous pay commission.
Fitment factor in the 6th and 7th pay commission
When the 6th pay commission was implemented by the government, about 1.86 fitment factor was approved in it, but keeping inflation in mind, the salary increased by a record 54 percent. At the same time, in the 7th pay commission, a fitment factor of 2.57 was implemented. But the minimum salary of the employees increased by only 14.2 percent. One thing that is understood from this is that just increasing the fitment factor does not increase the salary. If the government implements a 2.86 fitment factor this time, then the basic salary of the employees doesn't need to increase.
