Travellers traveling in AC coaches often complain about blankets. Sometimes, they complain about the blankets being dirty, and sometimes, the prickly feeling of the blankets also bothers passengers. To address these issues, the Railways has taken a significant step: passengers will now be provided with covers with Jaipur's famous Sanganeri print. This initiative began with the AC coach of the Jaipur-Asarwa (Ahmedabad) train. Let's explore the benefits of this initiative.
Train blankets will be provided with covers with Sanganeri prints.
According to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, until now, blankets were provided without covers on trains. Passengers were often worried about whether their blankets were clean. To address this issue, the Railways has introduced blanket covers. These covers feature Jaipur's beautiful Sanganeri print, which not only looks good but also keeps the blankets clean and safe. This initiative has been launched as a pilot project. If successful, it will be implemented on trains across the country.
Focus on These Factors
According to reports, two key considerations were given when designing the blanket covers. First, it was to create a cover that would last. Second, it was to ensure it was easy to wash and the print would not fade. The Sanganeri print is durable and retains its shine even after repeated washing. These covers will not only keep the blankets clean but will also provide comfort to passengers.
New Facilities Available at Railway Stations
In addition to blanket covers, the Railways has taken several important steps to provide passenger amenities. The Railway Minister inaugurated new facilities at 65 railway stations. These include signboards, full-length platforms, and other amenities at smaller stations. The Railways' goal is to provide passengers with amenities comparable to larger stations, even at smaller stations.
This is the Railways' plan
North Western Railway PRO Shashi Kiran stated that the Railways is renovating 77 stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme at a cost of ₹4,000 crore. Five of these stations are fully completed, and work is progressing rapidly on the remaining stations. New platforms, tracks, and electrification are being constructed at stations like Jaipur, Gandhinagar, and Khatipura. Work is also progressing rapidly at other stations.
