Comedy queen Bharti Singh has wowed fans on the internet with her jaw-dropping physical transformation. The talented star has been winning hearts ever since she first rose to fame with her stint on the reality series The Great Indian Laughter Challenge on STAR One. The people who have been following her from the early days of her career know how much she has changed in the past few years. However, the most significant change came in Bharti's life after the birth of her son when she finally took charge of her fitness and went on a commendable journey to lose nearly 15 kg of weight.
Bharti Singh's weight loss journeyView this post on Instagram
During an informal question and answer session with local paparazzi, Bharti Singh revealed that she lost weight not by skipping out on her favourite paranthas and makhan (butter) but by actually controlling the amount she ate and when she ate. She shared that she followed the simple principles of intermittent fasting and ate her dinner by 7 pm and did not eat anything before 12 pm, the next day. As per media reports, the star did not follow any rigorous workout plan or sacrifice her favourite food to achieve the impressive feat.
She has also shared that she herself did not expect to lose so much weight but was very happy with her achievement nonetheless. She revealed that now she feels much lighter and that regular everyday things that would lead to breathlessness earlier are easily doable after her weight loss. She said, "I am happy because I feel healthy and fit". She also shared that after her weight loss, her diabetes and asthma have come under control and are more manageable now.

In an earlier interview, Bharti revealed that she ate homemade food that the rest of her family made while making sure to exercise portion control. She shared that she eats her regular paranthas, eggs, and dal-sabzi like she did in the past, but has just tweaked the quantity and the timing of her meals. Her window to eat remains 12 pm -7 pm, following which she fasts for about 15-16 hours.
What is intermittent fasting?View this post on Instagram
According to Bharti Singh, intermittent fasting is the biggest reason for her successful weight loss. For the uninitiated, intermittent fasting is an eating pattern which alternates between periods of eating and fasting. Bharti follows a time-restricted eating pattern where she eats normally for a given short period of time and then fasts for the remaining hours.
While some nutritionists say that intermittent fasting can help with weight loss and improve overall health, some say it is nothing more than a fad. This is supported by some studies which highlight the health benefits of intermittent fasting, although most of these studies were conducted in the short-term and there is little to no clarity about the long-term effects of following it.
While Bharti may or may not have benefitted from intermittent fasting, it is vital for those looking to lose weight to consult a healthcare professional and not follow something blindly.
