Sheopur (Madhya Pradesh) [India], November 7 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav took a potshot at the Congress party on Thursday saying that the grand old party could have worked for the welfare of the poor, but it considered the poor and tribals only as vote banks.
CM Yadav made the remark while addressing a public gathering in Agra village in Sheopur district as a part of campaign in support of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) nominee Ramniwas Rawat for upcoming Vijaypur assembly by-poll.
Vijaypur assembly seat in Sheopur district fell vacant after Rawat, who was sitting MLA from the seat from Congress party, quit the party and joined the BJP amid the Lok Sabha elections in April this year. Currently, Rawat is the Forest and Environment Minister in the cabinet of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.
Addressing the public gathering, CM Yadav said, "The BJP works for the welfare of the people. The BJP government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working on the basic mantra of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas and Sabka Vishwas. Congress ruled the state for 55 years, but did not do any work for the poor. The BJP government under the leadership of PM Modi has started free helicopter service for the treatment of the poor. The Prime Minister has also given the guarantee of free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh to every poor (Ayushman Bharat Yojana)."

The Chief Minister also highlighted that the BJP government is providing a monthly aid of Rs 1500 to Sahariya women in the state to eliminate malnutrition.
Targeting the Congress, CM Yadav added, "The Congress party could also have worked for the welfare of the poor, but it considered the poor and tribals only as vote banks. Congress did not do any work for the social and economic empowerment of the poor, backward and tribal in the state."

He further stressed that the poor people living in every urban and rural area were getting pucca houses and those who have not got houses would soon get pucca houses under the PM Awas Yojana.
Additionally, CM Yadav said, "This area was once an area under the influence of bandits. Congress, which ruled the state for 55 years, did not do anything to eliminate bandits, because Congress leaders used to win elections on the strength of bandits. After the formation of the BJP government, bandits and robbers were wiped out."
The CM also highlighted that BJP candidate Rawat left the post of MLA and Congress party for the development of Vijaypur area. Rawat joined BJP to change the lives of the people of the area.
He urged the public to exercise their franchise in favour of Rawat and the BJP would take the guarantee of development of Vijaypur assembly constituency.
Meanwhile, BJP state chief VD Sharma also slammed the Congress party alleging that the party worked to snatch the rights of poor and tribal people whereas the BJP government worked for the welfare of poor and tribal people.
"Congress party snatches the rights of poor and tribals, whereas the BJP government works for the welfare of poor and tribals. During the 15 months of the Kamal Nath government, on the instructions of Congress leader Digvijaya Singh, the monthly aid provided to Sahariya women by the state government was stopped," Sharma alleged, adding that this scheme was started again after the BJP government back in power in the state.
The Bharatiya Janata Party has developed the entire state including Sheopur and Vijaypur. During Congress rule, the state was deprived of development, after the formation of the Bharatiya Janata Party government in 2003, Madhya Pradesh moved forward on development. The BJP government has taken the state out of the sick state and brought it in the front row of the category of developed states in the country, the BJP leader said.
"The BJP government is working to make Madhya Pradesh a developed state as well as a self-reliant state. BJP candidate Ramniwas Rawat left the Congress and joined the BJP for the development of the Vijaypur region. The BJP government is working to provide tap water to every home as well as water for irrigation in every field," Sharma added.
Notably, two assembly seats in Madhya Pradesh Vijaypur assembly seat in Sheopur district and Budhni seat in Sehore district will undergo by-poll on November 13 and the counting of votes will be done on November 23. (ANI)
