Amritsar (Punjab) [India], November 1 (ANI): On the occasion of Bandi Chhor Divas, devotees visited the Golden Temple and took a holy dip in the 'Sarovar' on Friday morning.
Bandi Chhor Divas is the anniversary of Sikh Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji's release from Gwalior Fort prison in the Mughal period.
"By the grace of Shri Guru Ramdas Ji, we came here and got the opportunity to serve. Our minds have become pure after coming here. It feels auspicious to see the morning view. Lighting has been done in a very beautiful manner inside the Golden Temple," Sandeep Singh, a devotee from Canada told ANI.
"Here we took a holy bath in holy pound and heard Gurbani. The soul became pure. We pray that we are called here every year by God," another devotee from Delhi said.
Bandi Chhor Divas commemorates the day when the sixth Guru of Sikhs, Guru Hargobind, and 52 Hindu kings were released from Gwalior Fort, who had been imprisoned by Mughal Emperor Jahangir. (ANI)
