Shares of low-cost carrier SpiceJet surged 17.9% to Rs 33.66 on the BSE on Thursday, following announcements on expanding its domestic network and winter flight operations.
The rally followed two consecutive network updates on October 6 and 8, detailing new daily routes to festive and winter destinations and plans to significantly grow its fleet this season.
On October 8, SpiceJet announced the launch of direct flights to Port Blair and Udaipur, two of India’s most popular winter travel destinations. The airline stated that it has commenced daily flights to Port Blair from Kolkata, while flights from Delhi will include a short stopover at Kolkata before continuing onward.
Additionally, non-stop flights to Udaipur from Delhi and Mumbai will commence from November 6. These routes are part of SpiceJet’s broader winter expansion plan, which includes doubling its fleet size and number of daily flights, as well as adding several new domestic routes to meet seasonal demand.
“As winter approaches, we are thrilled to offer travellers two of India’s most beautiful destinations – the Andamans and Udaipur – now easily accessible with our new direct and non‐stop flights. Whether it’s a beachside escape or a royal retreat, SpiceJet is making your dream holiday closer than ever. This expansion is part of our larger commitment to strengthen our domestic network and provide seamless, affordable, and delightful travel experiences to our passengers,” said Debojo Maharshi, Chief Business Officer at SpiceJet.
The company, on October 6, announced special Diwali flights to Ayodhya. As per the update, daily non-stop flights to Ayodhya from Delhi, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, and Hyderabad began from October 8, 2025.
The airline mentioned that the launch would take place in a phased manner, aimed at offering tourists and devotees seamless access to the holy city during the Diwali festival period. Additionally, the company stated that flights from Mumbai to Ayodhya were under consideration for the upcoming festive and winter season.
