In the last four days, all Indian airlines have received numerous hoax bomb threats, prompting the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) to hold a meeting on Saturday in Delhi. The meeting, chaired by BCAS Director General Zulfiquar Hasan, focused on addressing the problems caused by these threats.

Attending the meeting, representatives from various airlines discussed the difficulties they are facing. They expressed concerns about airport congestion during the festive season due to these threats. BCAS emphasized the need for strict adherence to safety and security guidelines.
BCAS officials assured airline representatives that efforts are being made with relevant agencies to identify the source of these threats. Officials also acknowledged the considerable burden these threats place on airlines, security forces, and passengers, especially during the busy festive period.
SpiceJet and AirAsia each reported receiving five bomb threats over the last four days. Overall, multiple airlines received a total of 30 bomb threats during this period.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) is discussing potential amendments to existing laws with other ministries to deal more effectively with hoax bomb threats. Officials suggested that individuals responsible for such threats would be placed on a no-fly list.
A committee will be formed, in consultation with the law ministry and Ministry of Home Affairs, to draft amendments to the Aircraft Act, 1934, and Aircraft Rules, 1937. The proposed changes would enforce a five-year imprisonment and include placing offenders on a no-fly list for making hoax bomb threats.
The accused person will be put on a no-fly list, officials said.
