With Bihar voting scheduled from 6 to 11 November 2025 and counting on 14 November, the Election Commission (EC) has issued a strong advisory to political parties on the use of artificial intelligence in campaigns.
The EC cautioned that using AI to create or spread synthetic content portraying political leaders can distort facts and harm the level playing field during elections.
According to the advisory, publishing or transmitting AI-generated information poses a “deep threat” as it can easily masquerade as truth, misleading voters and influencing public opinion unfairly.
The Commission urged all parties to ensure responsible digital conduct, verify all content before sharing, and avoid using AI tools to generate manipulated images, voices, or videos during the Bihar elections.
