MUMBAI: The House of Abhinandan Lodha ( HoABL) has filed a complaint with Mumbai police seeking to register a First Information Report (FIR) and probe into the recent forgery allegations made against the company by Macrotech Developers.
The listed company last week accused HoABL of fabricating documents to unlawfully exploit the 'Lodha' brand and registered trademark. The listed company is led by Abhishek Lodha and HoABL by his younger brother Abhinandan Lodha.
“We strongly suspect that mischief has been perpetrated by persons with malicious intent and objective to defame and tarnish the reputation of the complainant (HoABL) companies," HoABL said in its police complaint against unknown persons.
The company has submitted all relevant documents to law enforcement, requesting an investigation into the matter.
In its complaint HOABL said it tried to rename four group companies using the 'Lodha' name, with approvals from its group company Lodha Ventures, but the application was initially rejected by the Registrar of Companies (ROC).
The company later discovered that someone else had resubmitted the applications using forged documents, following which the ROC approved the name changes.

In January, Macrotech Developers moved the Bombay High Court to stop HoABL from using the ‘Lodha’ name, citing trademark infringement and a 2023 agreement barring such use.
Though Abhinandan Lodha parted ways with the group in 2015, Macrotech claimed the listed company never authorized use of the name. Abhinandan argued his firms were set up under a family settlement, with an understanding not to use 'Lodha' independently in real estate.
