Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday said the opposition stands with the government during this difficult time, after Defence Minister Rajnath Singh briefed leaders on the Indian missile strikes carried out under ‘ Operation Sindoor’.
"In moment of crisis, we are with government," Kharge was quoted as saying during the meet.
According to PTI sources, Singh told the all-party meeting that at least 100 terrorists were killed in the strikes. He also said that India would retaliate if Pakistan carries out any attacks.
This was the second such meeting within a fortnight as tensions continue to rise between India and Pakistan following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which killed 26 civilians. The government called the meeting to share details on the military operation and its aftermath.

Union ministers Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, S. Jaishankar, J.P. Nadda and Nirmala Sitharaman represented the government. From the opposition, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, TMC’s Sudip Bandyopadhyay, and DMK’s T.R. Baalu were among those present.
Speaking after the meeting, Kharge said: “In the meeting, we heard what they (government) said. They said that some things are confidential in terms of security and cannot be discussed. All of us have said that we are with them during this hard time… He (PM Modi) was not present last time as well. However, this is a difficult time and we don't want to criticize anyone.”
Other opposition leaders at the meeting included Ram Gopal Yadav (Samajwadi Party), Sanjay Singh (AAP), Sanjay Raut (Shiv Sena-UBT), Supriya Sule (NCP-SP), Sasmit Patra (BJD), and John Brittas (CPI-M). JD(U) leader Sanjay Jha, Union minister Chirag Paswan (LJP-Ram Vilas), and AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi also attended.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said the Centre wanted to brief all political parties on the operation.
The missile strikes, which were carried out early Wednesday, targeted nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir — including the Jaish-e-Mohammad stronghold in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba’s base in Muridke. The operation came in response to the Pahalgam massacre.
An earlier all-party meeting had been held on April 24, two days after the Pahalgam attack.
