After ruling the box office for weeks, Saiyaara has now taken the top spot on OTT platforms, surpassing Rajinikanth’s action film Coolie. Both films were among the biggest theatrical hits of 2025, and their digital debuts were eagerly awaited by fans. As per the latest viewership data, Saiyaara has emerged as the most-watched film in its first week of release, drawing in more viewers than Coolie. The romantic drama, directed by Mohit Suri, has been making waves across the world.

According to a report by Ormax Media, Saiyaara clocked 5.5 million views on Netflix within the first week of its release on September 12, edging past Coolie, which released a day earlier on Amazon Prime Video and registered 4.7 million views.
While both films are wildly different in genre and tone, their fanbases made sure they had solid runs in cinemas and now online. Saiyaara, a heartfelt romance featuring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, tells the story of Krish, a struggling musician, and Vaani, an aspiring lyricist. Their love story, complicated by personal health challenges, struck a chord with viewers. The film's music, performances, and emotional depth contributed to its impressive theatrical run of 53 weeks, collecting a whopping Rs 569.75 crore worldwide, according to Sacnilk.
On the other hand, Coolie marked the return of Rajinikanth in a massy action entertainer directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Despite receiving mixed critical reviews, the film won hearts of Rajinikanth’s fans and brought in strong numbers, earning Rs 517 crore globally. The film also competed with War 2, which featured Jr. NTR’s Bollywood debut, but managed to hold its ground firmly at the box office.
Both films dropped on OTT almost simultaneously, making it a clash of titans on the digital front.
