Lizard tail found in this Central University's mess food, sparks uproar and safety concerns

After dead lizards and insects in the mess food , now there have been reports of a ‘ lizard tail ’ being found in the vegetable curry being given in the mess food in Ajmer ’s Rajasthan Central University . There has been an uproar about the food and a video has been circulating on social media, where the angry students can be seen showing the ‘moving’ tail of the lizard, and accusing the mess operator and university staff of negligence. The students were seen demanding ‘healthy’ food in the video.

The incident came to the notice of one student when he was eating his lunch and noticed that the lizard was moving its tail in his vegetable curry. Students have immediately filed a complaint with the concerned authorities of the university, including mess operators, and Chief Warden.

It took a further turn on Sunday with Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Ajmer MP Bhagirath Chaudhary speaking on the issue. While addressing the press, he revealed that he had spoken to the Vice-Chancellor of Rajasthan Central University and demanded a deep probe into the matter. "No tampering with the health of students will be tolerated. We are taking this issue very seriously and appropriate actions will follow," he said.

Investigation launched
University Registrar Vipin Kumar told reporters that he was not in town but would comment on the situation once he returned. This is because, though primary reports about the incident were sourced from social networking sites, a proper investigation had already begun. "CCTV footage is being reviewed to determine the cause of this incident," said Kumar, implying that the issue might be that of cheating.

The university's PRO, Anuradha Mittal, has been accused of not responding in time when students tried to contact her. Though she was initially unavailable, later on, she provided information through texts without coming forward to take notice of the issue the students had before her.

Students' reactions and complaints earlier
A related discovery of the tail of the lizard has thrown the students into pandemonium, but most people have grievances with the fact that food from this university mess still faces the same issues, which in such encounters are the recurring issues. The students were reported to have discovered insects and even dead lizards while eating in the past incidents that have fueled the frustration.

Angry students took to social media streets to share videos of the latest incident, which spread widely, demanding sterner measures and accountability from the university. Some students have even alleged that the lizard's tail might have been put there deliberately, tied to a prior dispute between a student and the mess employee.

The campus remains tense as the university continues its probe, with students demanding fast action towards the realization of their dream of being healthy and safe.
