Vat Vriksh Puja 2025: Vat Savitri Vrat is a very auspicious festival for married women, which will be celebrated on Monday, 26 May 2025. This day is Somvati Amavasya of Jyeshtha month, which makes the fruits of the fast even more auspicious. According to mythology, Goddess Savitri took back the life of her husband Satyavan from Yamraj under a banyan tree. Since then this fast is observed for the long life of the husband, unbroken good fortune, and childbirth.
On this day, women worship the Vat tree by doing sixteen adornments, doing parikrama, and listening to the story of Savitri-Satyavan. After the puja, the donation of Suhaag material is also done. This year, there is also the yoga of Shani Jayanti on the day of the fast, which further increases its religious significance.

Religious significance of the banyan tree

It is said that this banyan tree originated from Manibhadra, the king of Yakshas, and since then it has become the carrier of divinity. Women especially worship this tree on the day of Vat Savitri Vrat, wishing for the longevity of the husband and the happiness of children. The banyan tree, with its huge form and shade, gives a shade that gives peace not only to the body but also to the soul.
