Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati has strongly condemned the US government's decision under President Donald Trump to impose a 50% tariff on Indian exports, calling it a "treacherous act" that undermines India’s economic strength. She urged the government and all political stakeholders to rise above narrow political interests and work collectively in the national interest.
Drawing a parallel with Brazil, another BRICS nation targeted by similar tariffs, Mayawati accused the US of attempting to economically weaken India. While the Modi government termed the move "unjust, unfair, and irrational," Mayawati said the Indian public views it as a betrayal by a so called "friend." She emphasized the need for a calm, mature response, free from internal divisions and political vendettas.
