Neemuch (Madhya Pradesh): In Birampur village of Badhawa Gram Panchayat, the condition of the road leading to crematorium has become a source of distress for residents, especially during funeral processions.
Despite the belief that death brings peace, villagers face significant challenges when carrying their loved ones to the cremation ground. The road is in such poor condition that mourners have to wade through water up to their waists.
Birampur, a Banjara-dominated village with a population of around 125 people, has been neglected for years. Villagers have repeatedly raised their concerns with local leaders, including the MLA, Zila Panchayat president and sarpanch, requesting the construction of a culvert to ease access to the cremation site. However, they have only received empty promises and no real solutions.
Neemuch Collector Holds Pankh Abhiyan Review MeetingOn Sunday, after the death of Ranjit Banjara, the villagers faced yet another struggle as they attempted to carry the body through the muddy and waterlogged path. The situation highlights the lack of development in the area, even after 75 years of independence.
Badhawa gram panchayat secretary Umesh Vyas stated, "After receiving information from the villagers, I have brought this matter to the notice of senior officials. We will soon arrange a place for Muktidham on government land in the village."
Zila Panchayat CEO Aman Vaishnav added, "This matter is not related to MNREGA, but we can arrange for wages under MNREGA. The culvert can only be built from the MLA fund. If the sarpanch sends a proposal, we can forward it."
