The latest episode of 25 Years of Location, Location, Location laid bare the harsh realities of the housing market's evolution over the past quarter-century. Viewers watched in disbelief as Kirstie recounted the tale of a Walthamstow duo who'd scoured through 70 properties, bid on 20, and missed out on every single one.
The housing hunt woes stretched beyond London, with a Warwickshire woman lamenting: "I feel like we've looked at every single house in Warwickshire and still haven't found anywhere that has everything we want."
By 2016, the climb in house prices had hit a staggering 154% increase since the show's inception, and today they're even more out of reach, reports .
Social media was abuzz with shock, as one viewer exclaimed: "Omg, house prices had risen 80% by 2004 since the start of #locationlocationlocation with more than 100% mortgages. A mental stat for 20 years ago."
One viewer was left feeling their age, lamenting: "Year 2000: No Rightmove, no mobiles, no websites, average house price of £77k. Anyone else feeling absolutely ancient right now? (And jealous of those who are 15 years older than me) #locationlocationlocation."
The sticker shock of London's property market had eyebrows hitting the ceiling as first-time buyers faced eye-watering prices.
A baffled audience member asked, "Why the f*** would anyone want to live in a pokey flat in London for £400,000?" during a segment featuring a Wood Green property hunt.
Another outburst came when a viewer remarked: "'No need for builders , no extra costs,' narrates Phil Spencer as young first time buyers survey a newbuild #leasehold money pit flat with an asking price of 400k!"
Warnings were also issued by seasoned property owners, with one advising, "Nooo avoid new build flats! Cladding and service charge nightmare," drawing on their own harsh lessons.
In contrast, many fans were singing praises for Kirstie and Phil's sage advice, having become household names through their long-running and much-loved property series.
