This first began when she has been trying her best to raise her quadruplets Aled, Bryn, Carys and Llio with husband Chesney. She was diagnosed with post-natal depression after giving birth to the brood.

But she took a while to open up about her struggles and instead went back to work so she could afford to look after her family. She was also left heartbroken when her twin brother Paul Foreman passed away after being diagnosed with motor neurone disease in September 2023.

Gemma has been struggling since and her family have been getting worried about her. As he realised how much of a hard time she was having, her other brother Kit said she should have some time away and stay in a Lake District cottage that his friend owns.

Husband Chesney agreed that this was a good idea and said that she should go and leave him at home with the four children. Fans took to X, formerly known as , to talk about Gemma's brief exit. One said: "Can't blame her for needing a breather to find herself again," with another adding: "Hope she comes back soon."

A third noted: "Seems a bit sudden." As a fourth commented: "She is playing her character so well and going through hell." It's not yet known exactly when Gemma will be returning to the cobbles.

Before landing her role in Coronation Street, Dolly-Rose's first acting tole was when she landed the part of Sasha Dyson in Doctors in 2010. She was in a number of episodes during that year but before her acting career took off, she worked as a bartender.

This came in handy for her pulling pints in the Rovers Return as she once said: "I've worked behind a bar in real life, it was before when I worked in radio. I did hospitality and bar work." Shortly after her audition for Gemma Winter, Dolly-Rose went on a tour of Weatherfield and it was during the tour that she found out she landed the role in Coronation Street.

She said during an interview: "I'd had an audition before the tour but I wasn’t expecting anything. While we were walking around my friend said, 'Imagine if you got a job on it' and I was saying that would never happen. Just a couple of days later I got a call saying I had the part."
