Liam Gallagher dedicates Oasis song to victims of Minneapolis mass school shooting

Liam Gallagher left gig-goers overcome with emotion after dedicating an Oasis song to victims of the horror Minneapolis mass school shooting.

Last week, an evil shooter unloaded 116 rifle rounds when he opened fire at a church of praying kids, police have said. Two children died and another 15 were injured when 24-year-old Robin Westman targeted the city's Annunciation Catholic School on Wednesday. Three adult parishioners attending the mass, which was being held on the first week of the new term, were also badly wounded.

As the country attempts to come to terms with the atrocity, Liam dedicated the song Live Forever to the victims of last week's shooting. Playing to a huge crowd at the MetLife Stadium, the star shouted: “I want to dedicate this next tune to the kiddies of Minneapolis," he said, before adding: "Live Forever."

He had marched on stage with brother Noel and they didn't take long to get the band's fans going. “You might have wondered what it would be like to sing this next song with 60,000, 70,000 of your fellow Oasis fans, right?” said Noel, who came on stage arm-in-arm with his sibling. “Well, you're about to find out what that feeling is like.”

Fletcher Merkel, aged 8 and a young girl aged 10, died after Robin Westman, 23, opened fire during a church mass at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis on Wednesday morning, before turning the gun on himself. Seventeen people, including 14 children between the ages of 6 and 15, and three parishioners in their 80s, were injured in the attack. Westman died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.

Fletcher's dad, Jessie Merkel, blamed the "coward" killer in a statement to NBC News for being the reason the young boy's family can't "hold him, talk to him, play with him, and watch him grow into the wonderful young man he was on the path to becoming.

"Fletcher loved his family, friends, fishing, cooking and any sports that he was allowed to play," his father told NBC News. "While the hole in our hearts and lives will never be filled, I hope that in time, our family can find healing."

Investigators are now examining a series of disturbing posts and YouTube videos left behind by Westman, including a YouTube video expressing views of wanting to kill Donald Trump.

Words written on firearms and magazines belonging to the killer include the names of previous mass shooters such as Norwegian White Supremacist Anders Breivik and Adam Lanza, who carried out the 2011 Norway and 2012 Sandy Hook killings, respectively. Anti-Semitic slurs and anti-India posts were also written on the firearms and magazines.

The Oasis gig went ahead, five days after the shooting. Liam offered an olive branch to his older brother, who, until last year, hadn't seen eye-to-eye since the great band split in 2009, following a bust-up between the siblings. Now, it's claimed that Liam has invited Noel over to his North London home for Christmas.

A source told The Sun: "Liam wants to make Christmas extra special this year following their hugely successful tour. He is hoping to get all the family together as they take a well-earned rest.

"Liam and Noel have loved seeing their own kids spend time together during their tour and would love to get everyone around the dinner table."

Earlier this month, their doting mother, Peggy, finally got to see her sons on stage for the first time in 16 years, having attended both shows in Dublin.
