Viewers sat down to watch the first 2025 live show of Strictly Come Dancing tonight, but they all had the same complaint before it even started.

Fans sat down with their snacks and cups of tea to watch the first live show, due to start at 6.55pm, but they were left frustrated when they were still watching ads for upcoming BBC shows at 6.58pm.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter to express their frustrations, one fan penned: "cmon now hurry tf up #Strictly," while another wrote: "#Strictly ffs hurry up!"

"#Strictly it's a bit late should be on now," a third complained, while a fourth said: "Why they late ?? #Strictly"

When the show did kick off, albeit moments late, judges Anton Du Beke, Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse showed off their dancing skills with a pre recorded performance.

Taking us back through the eras, Anton started off in the 70s, with Shirley later taking us to the 80s. Last but not least, Motsi and Johannes stunned as they travelled back to the 90s.

All the while, host Craig Revel Horwood appeared in four different costumes for his role of compere and DJ.

Earlier this week, the show was left in chaos when it was revealed that former Love Island star Dani Dyer had to pull out due to a fractured ankle. Many were wondering whether the BBC show would be able to replace her last minute.

However, yesterday, in a shock announcement, it was revealed that former Love Island star and West End performer Amber Davies would be stepping in, dancing her first dance with Nikita Kuzmin during tonight's live show.

However, it seems like the 28-year-old wasn't given much notice at all. Speaking on her announcement, she said: "This has been the craziest 24 hours of my life.

"I've watched Strictly with my family since I was younger and to now be part of the show is a dream come true.

"I'm going to give it my all and I am sending Dani well wishes for a speedy recovery. I hope I do her proud."
