During this innings, Nissanka along with Kusal Mendis completed a 1000-run opening partnership in T20I and became the first Sri Lankan pair to do so.
Sri Lanka batted first in the match and scored 162 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs, thanks to Pathum Nissanka's half-century. In reply, West Indies were all out for 89 runs. Nissanka was chosen as the Player of the Match in Sri Lanka's victory.
