Ravindra Jadeja made a big statement

Jadeja was named Player of the Series for his all-round performance in the two-Test series against the West Indies. India won the second match by seven wickets here on Tuesday. The 36-year-old had taken eight wickets and scored 104 runs in the first match in Ahmedabad.

"I think we know what kind of cricket we have been playing in the last five-six months. So, as a team, it's a good sign that we have been able to do that consistently," Jadeja said at the prize distribution ceremony after the second match.

He said, "Ever since Gauti bhai (Gambhir) said I have to bat at number six, I have been thinking as a pure batsman and it has worked out well for me. Earlier, I used to bat at number eight and nine for many years, so my mindset was a little different from now." Jadeja said that he does not think much about records but is always conscious of performing well with both bat and ball to justify his role in the team.

He said, "I focus on contributing with both bat and ball to help my team win. I always look forward to doing that. I feel that if I am not able to perform well with bat and ball, it does not reflect my worth as a player."

Player of the Match Kuldeep Yadav said that bowling long spells on this slow pitch was a challenge. He said, "It was a completely different wicket. It was a challenge to bowl more overs here, but I enjoyed bowling here. I like to bowl as many overs as possible."
