In a rare and dramatic moment during the final of the Pondicherry T20 Premier League 2025, Mahe Megalo Strikers' batter Sabhya Chaddha was declared timed-out—becoming one of the few cricketers in professional cricket to be dismissed without facing a delivery.
The incident took place in the 15th over of the Strikers’ innings. Following the controversial dismissal of batter Kamaleshwaran A, who was unhappy with the catch that sent him back, a heated conversation began between the Strikers and the umpire. Amidst this distraction, incoming batter Sabhya Chaddha failed to reach the crease within the required time.
According to ICC rules, a new batter must be ready to face the next delivery within 90 seconds of a dismissal. Since Chaddha took more than that, the fielding side Vilanur Mohit Kings appealed—and the on-field umpire had no choice but to declare him out.
This is not the first time such an incident has occurred. In the 2023 ODI World Cup, Sri Lanka’s Angelo Mathews became the first player in international cricket to be dismissed timed-out after failing to be ready in time against Bangladesh.
Match SummaryDespite the unusual dismissal, Mahe Megalo Strikers managed to post 139/8 in 20 overs. Srikaran A scored 32 runs, while Raghavan Ramamurthy added 25. For Vilanur Mohit Kings, Ramesh Kumar picked up 2 wickets for 24 runs.
In response, the Kings chased down the target with ease, reaching 140/3 in 15.1 overs. Bhanu Anand and Mohit Kale contributed 35 runs each, while Akash Pougazendi remained unbeaten on 43, sealing the title win for Vilanur Mohit Kings.
