Clarkson's Farm wasn't allowed to air on BBC for one major reason

Jeremy Clarkson has revealed that Amazon Prime almost missed out on producing his show. The hit programme, which follows the 65-year-old running his Diddly Squat farm and Farmer's Dog pub, was originally pitched to the BBC - but after a disagreement, Clarkson took his idea elsewhere.

In an interview that has recently gone viral on , the former star said: "I pitched the farming idea to the BBC when I bought the farm in 2008. And all they were bothered about was where it would have been in May, where would the production office be. Because at the time, all they were bothered about was: 'You can't make anything in ', and I said we'll make it in London, 'Oh no, no' [they said]."

He continued: "And they didn't want it because the production office would be in London. I asked them two or three times, but they'd say: 'Can't you make it in the production office in Scotland, ' and I'd say no, not really, that'd be idiotic."

The star concluded: "And then, well, so it never got commissioned by the because of some, well, I don't even know what they were trying to achieve."

But fans were glad at Clarkson's snub as they said that the show would not be the same if it never aired on Amazon Prime. In the comments of the post, one fan said: "To be fair I do believe that if that had been commissioned it wouldn't be the Clarkson's farm we know today."

Another wrote: "Good job they didn't take it on. The would have cancelled it the moment Clarkson even looked into the camera the wrong way." Meanwhile a third commented: "Worked out for the best, if it were produced by the , I wouldn't have watched it."

After the first series aired in 2021, the show became an instant hit and garnered a huge online following. Recently, the Clarkson's Farm team confirmed that the fourth series will be available to watch on Amazon Prime from May 23.

Posting on social media, they confirmed: "Same farm, new pub. #ClarksonsFarm Season 4 coming to Prime Video on the 23rd May." While we don't know full details about the plot, the new season will likely focus on 's new pub, The Farmer's Dog.
