Keeping your wooden floor looking fresh and new can be hard, but with one item that you'll likely already have at home, you could bring it back to life. You may have tried all kinds of cleaning methods and found that things aren't working.
While you could paint your floor with wood dye, it can be costly, time-consuming and again may not have the impact you're hoping for. But by using a simple tea bag, you might be able to bring back some of the natural colour from the wood.
Ideal Home says: "There are so many ways you can clean with tea, which is why I always urge friends and family to keep some spare teabags lying around for doing just that.
"And if you have hard flooring in your home, you can brew up the perfect hard floor cleaner with hot water and tea bags to let the tannins restore your floors."
It recommends using gentle cleaning solutions for hardwood and tiled floors, and black tea falls into this category. Tea bags are affordable, and you can pick them up while on your weekly shopping trip without having to go out of your way.
More people are turning to natural cleaning methods, which are cheaper and do not use harsh chemicals.
While shop-bought cleaning products are essential for some cleaning jobs, they can be costly and may not always work as well as you'd hope.
Hunker says: "By removing the dirt, the oils, and other contaminants, the slightly acidic nature of black tea reveals the natural shine of the finish.
"And in addition to the tannins in the tea, a specific black tea made from a plant called Camelia sinensis has polyphenolic chemicals which are antimicrobial, essentially disinfecting your flooring for you."
Next time you're cleaning, don't forget to give this easy home hack a try.
