cracked a joke about team-mate 's trips to the stewards as the two team-mates guessed their EA Sports F1 game ratings for the upcoming edition. The duo are currently battling for the Drivers' Championship title with McLaren well-positioned to make a charge for both crowns in 2025. At the moment, Piastri leads the way following a run of three consecutive Grand Prix victories, all of which have arrived in commanding fashion.
Despite his immense recent form, Norris received the higher overall rating as the drivers revealed their scores for the upcoming F125 game. The Brit received a 91, putting him on par with Ferrari star Charles Leclerc, and ahead of George Russell and Lewis Hamilton. Only Max Verstappen, rated 95, fared better.
In a video filmed at the Miami Grand Prix, the drivers guessed their team-mates' ratings for the experience, racecraft, awareness and pace stats on each card. When the McLaren duo arrived at their turn, Norris didn't hold back.
"'Have you seen Oscar?', 'Yeah, he's at the stewards'," the Brit joked, prompting a chuckle from his McLaren team-mate. Piastri then justified his regular trips to the FIA office, caveating: "No, because people were crashing into me!" Norris accepted this explanation, replying: "Yeah, I know, that is fair."
One of the most notable examples of such an incident was Piastri's contact with Max Verstappen on the opening lap of the season finale in Abu Dhabi. The Dutchman had already wrapped up his fourth successive Drivers' Championship title and attempted a bold move at Turn One, tagging the Australian into a spin.
Verstappen received a 10-second time penalty for the contact and later faced a trip to the stewards' room with Piastri, where he accepted full blame for the crash. McLaren were fortunate that Norris' victory on the same day helped deliver the Constructors' Championship title ahead of Ferrari.
This season, Piastri's only notable incident was his opening-race spin in Melbourne, which took place in treacherously wet conditions. Other than that understandable moment, the 24-year-old has been nearly faultless, setting a daunting pace for Norris to follow.
According to co-commentator and pundit Martin Brundle, that advantage is known to the drivers. "Piastri has great race craft and it's fractionally more effective and clinical than Norris, and Verstappen knows that too," he wrote in his Sky Sports F1 column after the Miami Grand Prix.
