Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund was seen participating in Denmark's training session on Monday, alleviating worries about his fitness status. Hojlund suffered a hamstring injury at the start of pre-season, forcing him to wait until the September 21 trip to Crystal Palace for his first outing of the campaign.
The 21-year-old has since featured off the bench against FC Twente and Tottenham and started against FC Porto and Aston Villa prior to the international break.
Before Hojlund's return, Erik ten Hag cautioned that the Danish player needed to be gradually reintroduced to action.
Over the weekend, reports from Denmark emerged stating that Hojlund had skipped a Sunday training session as a precautionary measure for his fitness.
He was benched for Denmark's match against Spain on Saturday and played the final 12 minutes in a 1-0 loss.
Denmark held an open recovery training session on Sunday, which journalists were permitted to attend, and Hojlund was reportedly absent.
This sparked fears that he might have picked up another injury before returning to Manchester, but he was seen training with his national team again on Monday.
United have been struggling to find the back of the net in the Premier League this season, scoring a mere five goals. Only relegation-threatened Southampton have scored fewer (four).
In his first season at United, Hojlund was unrefined and missed numerous opportunities, yet he still managed to score a club-best 16 goals in all competitions, marking a solid debut campaign in M16.
Despite United's summer signing of Joshua Zirkzee in a £36.5million deal to boost their goal tally, the Dutchman has only found the back of the net once.
That was the late winner to beat Fulham 1-0 on the Premier League's opening weekend, and he hasn't shown the instincts of a natural goalscorer since.
Hojlund is expected to remain United's first-choice striker after netting his first of the season in the 3-3 draw at Porto. He is likely to be in the starting line-up against Brentford this weekend.
Ten Hag desperately needs to overturn United's fortunes on the pitch quickly after the October international break.
INEOS have afforded the Dutchman more time after last week's crunch executive meeting in London, but he remains under severe pressure to improve.
United have won just seven of their last 30 games in the Premier League and Europe, triumphing just three times in all competitions this season.
Trips to West Ham United and Fenerbahce follow Brentford's visit to Old Trafford on Saturday. They are three fixtures in which there is very little room to slip up.
