Sir Keir Starmer can't sack Rachel Reeves for one key reason, says Carole Malone. The TV presenter warned that Ms Reeves has "caused more damage as a Chancellor than any in living history". The comments follow the Chancellor admitting she is set to hike taxes and cut spending in the upcoming November Budget. As Ms Reeves refuses to abandon the Government's strict fiscal rules and plug the multi-billion pound financial black hole, the burden may fall back on hardworking families and businesses.
Despite this, Ms Malone told the Daily Expresso podcast that the Prime Minister is unable to fire her as it would mean Sir Keir "has to admit that a lot of the decisions she's made, he's ok'd". She added: "So it's going to make him look even more stupid, which is hard to imagine."

Ms Malone continued: "She arrived in Washington today, and she's going to tell them that Britain is doing brilliantly well. And it's just not true. We're on the verge of collapse thanks to her."
On Wednesday, the Chancellor told Sky News: "I was really clear during the general election campaign - and we discussed this many times - that I would always make sure the numbers add up.
"Challenges are being thrown our way - whether that is the geopolitical uncertainties, the conflicts around the world, the increased tariffs and barriers to trade. And now this (OBR) review is looking at how productive our economy has been in the past and then projecting that forward."
She added: "Of course, we're looking at tax and spending as well, but the numbers will always add up with me as chancellor because we saw just three years ago what happens when a government, where the Conservatives, lost control of the public finances: inflation and interest rates went through the roof."
Ms Reeves blamed "Brexit" and "Liz Truss" for the current state of the economy, and claimed she is having to focus on "undoing some of that damage".
"She's an incompentent idiot. She has caused havoc and she has the cheek to blame other people," Ms Malone said.
"My worry is she is so incompetent that when we properly get into that doom loop, there's nothing she is going to be able to do to get us out of it because she literally is hopeless. And that scares me."
