Moment 'sleepy' Donald Trump reacts as man faints in Oval Office

Donald Trump appeared slumped in a chair during a discussion about lowering the cost of obesity drugs in the US. David Ricks, the CEO of Eli Lilly, was addressing the press when a man started to fall behind him. People surrounding them immediately rushed to support the man and helped him lie on the ground to allow medical personnel to assist.

Trump, who had been slumped in the chair before the moment occurred, spotted the man fall to the floor and slowly turned around to get up. He didn't intervene, but he stood up as attention was called to representative Gordon Finlay. He continued to look around as the press was ushered out of the room to give space to medics who needed to support. Prior to the moment that needed medical attention, Trump had appeared "sleepy" throughout the press conference as he was seated in his chair while those around him led the discussion.

Taking to X, people were sharing videos and photos of Trump, with one user writing: "Watch how he just stands there... like the whole thing's an inconvenience."

Another said: "Trump, looking decidedly annoyed and disinterested as one of his invited guests faints, interrupting his press conference. Such empathy and concern, that's our President." A third wrote: "Trump was in that chair asleep and homeboy fainted and woke him up."

A fourth added: "Donald Trump stood by blankly as a man collapsed in the Oval Office." Elsewhere, people had complained that Trump appeared to be sleeping throughout the press conference, with viewers saying he looked like he was "out cold".

However, despite the backlash, Dr Mehmet Oz, who provided first aid, commended Trump for speaking to the guest's wife over the phone to reassure her.

The doctor had been on the phone with the wife and Trump took over, with Oz adding: "I think he was amazing. He could have been doing so many other things, but he took the time to care about the feelings of a woman he didn't even know, just to ease her worries."

When the press returned, Trump addressed the situation and said that the man became "light-headed". He added: "You saw he went down. And he's fine. They just sent him out. He's got the doctors' care. But he's fine."

David Ricks added in a statement: "He became faint, and if you've ever been in the Oval Office, you stand a long time, and it's warm. Pleased to say the White House medical staff did a great job and he's doing great. So nothing to be concerned about. Thanks for your concern."

The event continued after an hour delay.
