BBC's The One Show was briefly paused by presenter Roman Kemp while he excitedly divulged for the first time who would headline this year's Children In Need.
Roman, aged 31, rejoined stalwart host Alex Jones on the iconic set, navigating a flurry of discussions during the half-hour show. The duo concluded matters by unveiling substantial news about the upcoming charity event.
Alex enthused: "Now there's just over a month to go until we'll all be getting ready to stick on our Pudsey ears and help raise an incredible amount of money for this year's Children In Need appeal show on the 15th of November."
Roman then stepped in with a grand revelation: "Yeah, and we can reveal that the presenter helping host the big night for the very first time is here right now. It's Vernon Kay!"
Vernon emerged, making his way to the studio where show guests Aiden Turner and Bella Maclean were seated, greeted by Roman's warm welcome, reports .
Extending his congratulations, Roman quizzed the TV favourite: "Congratulations, mate, taking on hosting duties on the night. You're one of six presenters on the big night."
His curiosity piqued as he asked: "I guess the big question is what made you want to take on hosting duties?"
Former I'm A Celebrity contestant Vernon then shared the touching backstory that propelled him onto the stage of Children In Need, recounting his involvement in last year's charity run, which deeply affected him.
Moved by the cause, Vernon explained: "It really plucked at my own personal heartstrings as you really see how important Children In Need is to so many people."
The BBC's iconic charity event, Children In Need, marks an impressive 44-year legacy since its inception. Originally aired with Terry Wogan, Sue Lawley, and Esther Rantzen at the helm, this annual fundraising extravaganza has become a cornerstone of British television.
Set to grace our screens this year, a star-studded line-up featuring Chris Ramsey, Ade Adepitan, Mel Giedroyc, Rochelle Humes, Lenny Rush, and Vernon Kay will take on hosting duties.
On his prestigious appointment, actor Lenny Rush shared his sentiments: "It's such an honour to be part of such a special production which helps raise money for both children and young people in the UK facing disadvantages."
The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One
