Prince Harry deserves sympathy after Meghan Markle's recent solo trip to Paris, a royal commentator has claimed. Amanda Platell admitted she "never thought she would feel sorry" for the Duke of Sussex over his wife's itinerary - but that she had found herself feeling awkward for him. Writing in the Daily Mail, Ms Platell questioned whether Meghan's late-night car journey, filmed near the route Princess Diana took before her fatal 1997 crash, was coincidental or designed to attract attention.
She was also uncomforable at Meghan's decision to stay at the Hotel Plaza Athenee, located just four minutes from the Pont de l'Alma tunnel where Diana died, along with a social media post showing her in a vehicle close to the site. Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams described the episode as "insensitive" and Ms Platell speculated that Harry, who recounted his own painful experiences at the tunnel in his memoir Spare, might potentially have counselled against the trip had he accompanied her.
