There's a charming town in the UK that's home to 18th-century houses, broad walks, and even includes an ancient burial site that's older than Stonehenge - and has way less tourists than Oxford and Cambridge.
Nestled in Dorset, between Poole and Bridport, this historic market town includes ancient hill forts, museums and Roman roots dating back from around 60AD. In fact, the town is filled with an array of Roman remnants, with their unique presence still visible today including the Roman Town House and the original line of the Roman walls.
Dorset is a ceremonial county found in South West England. It borders Somerset to the north-west, Wiltshire to the north and Hampshire to the east.
You'll need to be quite fit to explore Dorcheter as many of its streets sit atop steep hills which seemingly tumble down into the sea.

It provides a host of exciting and interesting attractions, with an absolute must being a visit to Maiden Castle, a large and complex Iron Age fort built just outside the town.
Keep the history facts going at Dorset Museum which includes a host of Roman artefacts related to Dorchester which was once named Durnovaria.
A rich literary history also lies in the heart of Dorchester thanks to poet and novelist, Thomas Hardy who was born here with the Hardy Trail providing fans the chance to explore areas in Dorset which inspired the famous writer.
You'll also be met with plenty of natural beauty here such as the nearby 11th-century monastery of Abbotsbury Swannery Sanctuary that provides a refuge for over 600 mute swans.
There are also a number of independent shops here, brilliant pubs, and quaint cafes, all serving a host of delicious treats, from cream teas to international meals.
The town has a vibrant mix of festivals, including the popular Dorset County Show, the Thomas Hardy Victorian Fair in June, and the Cider Festival in August.
