Ukraine in flames as Russia launches devastating drone attack leaving dozens injured

has launched a massive wave of drone strikes on the eastern city of Kharkiv, injuring at least 28 people and sparking multiple fires across residential districts, according to regional governor Oleh Synyehubov. targeted four key districts of the city - Sloboda, Kyiv, Osnovyansky and Saltivsky - leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.

In the Sloboda district, several private vehicles were destroyed after fires broke out as a result of the drone attack. In the Kyiv district, a drone crash-landed, and authorities are still working to assess the full scale of the damage. The Osnovyansky district was among the hardest hit. A house and a shop were both damaged by the blast wave and debris, with a resulting fire engulfing part of a nearby nine-storey apartment block, setting its roof ablaze. In Saltivsky, another drone struck the ground, damaging a residential building and several cars parked nearby.

Specialist emergency teams are on the ground working to contain the damage and support survivors. Medics are continuing to provide treatment to those wounded, with the number of injured expected to rise as more information becomes available.

Mr Synyehubov said: "The consequences of the massive attack on Kharkiv by enemy UAVs are being dealt with. Emergency services are doing everything necessary."

Other officials cited by the Kyiv Independent said at least 40 people were injured, with seven taken to hospital.

Mayor Ihor Terekhov said 12 locations across four districts were hit, leaving several homes, shops, and vehicles damaged.

Meanwhile,claimed to have intercepted over 100 Ukrainian drones targeting military sites in occupied Crimea.

Videos from pro-Ukrainian sources showed appeared to show multiple explosions near key Russian airfields, althoughhas not officially commented.

The US has delivered decommissioned F-16 jets to for spare parts, and a drone attack on Zaporozhye left one person dead and 31 injured.

Kharkiv, located just 30km from the Russian border, has faced relentless aerial bombardment in recent weeks, as Moscow continues its campaign of terror using low-cost but deadly drones.

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky, posting on X, said: "Right now, Russia is once again attacking Ukraine. Kharkiv has been attacked by dozens of "shaheeds". Residential buildings, enterprises, and civilian infrastructure have been damaged. As of now, more than 40 people are known to have been injured.

"Rescuers and relevant services are working everywhere. There were and could not be any military targets. Russia is hitting residential buildings precisely when Ukrainians are at home, when they are putting their children to bed.

"Only inhumans can give such orders and carry them out. While the world delays with decisions, almost every night in Ukraine turns into a horror due to which lives are lost. Ukraine needs strengthened air defence.

"We need strong and real decisions from our partners: the United States, Europe, all our partners who seek peace. Only force and sanctions will force Russia to stop.'
