What Liverpool need to win Premier League title this weekend as Arsenal play key role

The Premier League is on the brink, with Arne Slot and his Liverpool side standing on the cusp of what they have been threatening to do for several months now.

Liverpool have flourished this season while others have faltered, capitalising upon the fall of Manchester City while keeping a resurgent Arsenal at bay.

And, now, as we enter match-week 33 of the Premier League campaign, Liverpool have an outside shot at wrapping up proceedings here and now.

Going into the recent home clash against West Ham United, Liverpool knew their existing remit was to obtain a nine point acquisition to get the title over the line, given that Arsenal had dropped points to Brentford the day prior - just a week on from also dropping points to Everton in an identical 1-1 stalemate.

Liverpool got the job done against the Hammers, albeit playing out a nervy affair, winning 2-1 in the final throes of the contest courtesy of a late header from captain Virgil van Dijk.

Now, as another Premier League weekend rolls in and we cascade towards the climax of the campaign, a possibility exists for the Reds to get the job done right now.

It relies on Arsenal, of course, who return to domestic duty riding the electric high of having beaten Real Madrid - twice - to take an iconic aggregate 5-1 win over the Spanish giants to cruise into the semi-final of the Champions League.

The Gunners travel to Portman Road, where they lock horns with relegation stricken Ipswich this weekend.

Kieran McKenna's men have reason to feel optimistic, after recently holding Chelsea to a 2-2 draw and having beaten high-flying Bournemouth at the start of the month.

Should Ipswich take advantage of Arsenal's European-tired legs and pull off a remarkable victory on Sunday, Liverpool will be able to place a second hand firmly on the Premier League trophy and be crowned champions of England with victory over Leicester City at the King Power.

The Foxes occupy the relegation zone with Ipswich, and currently sit three points behind McKenna's men on 18.

Both teams are desperate to achieve points, meaning the title race - or what remains of it - could take a bit of a denting over the coming hours, in one way or another.
