June is always a big month for new video game reveals, especially since the advent of the Summer Game Fest event.

This year's Summer Game Fest stream takes place at 10pm BST UK time on the evening of June 6. More than 60 companies will be part of this year's event, including Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo and SEGA.

Another company that has announced plans to join the festivities is , and based on the latest leak, it looks like they may steal the show.

According to insider , 9 is almost guaranteed to be revealed during this week's Summer Game Fest stream.

In a series of posts on X, user AestheticGamer says there's a lot of buzz about a possible Resident Evil 9 reveal. AestheticGamer claims that Capcom's increased social media activity is more proof that something big is about to be announced.

"Again, not like I can give 100% confirmation, no one's directly told me or the like. But at this point I'm like 95% positive we're on the verge of RE9 being revealed at SGF. This is the first time behind the scenes there's a lot of buzz in the grapevine, lots of rumblings," reads an AestheticGamer tweet.

"I'd say if you're tuning into Summer Game Fest on June 6th hoping that Resident Evil 9 will show up, there's an incredibly high chance you won't be disappointed. I'm getting into hype mode for it myself."

Resident Evil 7 director Koshi Nakanishi previously confirmed that a new mainline Resident Evil game is in development, but little else is known about the game.

With Resident Evil Village launching all the way back in 2021 and Resident Evil 4 Remake coming out in 2023, the timing certainly makes sense.

There are rumours that the next Resident Evil game will feature open-world elements. This would be an exciting departure for a series that has previously featured expansive maps with a linear progression system.

Leon Kennedy is also tipped to appear as the main playable character. Hopefully we'll find out for sure if Resident Evil 9 does get announced during the event.

Previous rumours have suggested that more Resident Evil remakes are in the works, similar to Resident Evil 2, Resi 3 and Resident Evil 4.
