
This beautiful train journey takes passengers through Australia, offering stunning views of the Outback.
The Ghan operates between the northern and southern coasts of Australia, through the towns and cities of Adelaide, Alice Springs and Darwin on the Adelaide-Darwin rail corridor.
Operated by Journey Beyond, its scheduled travelling time, including extended stops for passengers to do off-train tours, is 53 hours 15 minutes to travel 1,851 miles once a week.
The Ghan has been described as one of the world's greatest passenger trains, and it is aimed at being an experiential tourism-oriented passenger train service.
Described as an "unforgettable Australian adventure", it's a tourist hotspot for those wanting to explore the country on board the all-inclusive train.
Departing from Adelaide, the train travels through the Red Centre, with the landscape changing from pretty greenery to the dry, arid conditions of the Outback. The train stops at Marla, Alice Springs and Katherine to learn about the history, culture and natural beauty surrounding these areas.
In total, passengers will spend two nights onboard The Ghan, with seven meals included in the price. There are also fine wines and beverages on offer.
There is a food menu paired with local wines, giving guests an experience of traditional Australian cuisine and a taste of the local vineyards.
The train departs on Wednesdays between March and November, with tickets selling out well in advance. Tickets start at £1,336 per person - with food and drink included in the package. The most expensive ticket will set you back an eyewatering £3,245.
The three-day itinerary includes overnight accommodation on the train, described as a "private oasis". During the day, there is a three seater lounge that can be converted into a bed at night.
There are also complimentary toiletries included, with a number of rooms coming with an en-suite and shower. There are also six in-cabin music and journey channels.
Food can be eaten in the Queen Adelaide Restaurant which has tables lining the train and offering spectacular views of the surrounding scenery.
