Bengaluru: The South Western Railway (SWR) will run special trains between Bengaluru and Kalaburagi stations to accommodate the extra rush of passengers during the Diwali festival. The South Western Railway informed that the Bengaluru-Kalaburgi Express Special will leave Sir M Visveraya Terminal (SMVT) in Bengaluru at 9:15 pm on October 30 and November 2, 2024 and reach Kalaburagi at 7.40 am the next day via Yelahanka, Dharmavaram, Anantapur, Guntakal, Adoni, Manthralayam Road, Raichur, Krishna, Yadgir and Shahabad stations, news agency PTI reported. In the return direction, Kalaburagi-SMVT Bengaluru Express Special will leave Kalaburagi at 9.35 am on October 31 and November 3 and reach SMVT Bengaluru at 8 pm on the same day via following the same route. The PTI report added that the train will consist of 19 coaches, including 12 General Second Class coaches, three sleeper Class coaches, two AC three-tier coaches, one Luggage/Brake Van cum generator car and one second class luggage, brake van with disabled coach. This development is part of the Karnataka Government's new GCC policy (2024-2029), which aims to generate 3.5 lakh jobs and contribute USD 50 billion to the state's economy, according to a statement by BIAL on Monday.Situated within the Kempegowda International Airport (BLR Airport) campus, Bengaluru Airport City is being developed as a mixed-use destination, incorporating business parks, an education and health district, R&D hubs, as well as entertainment and hospitality options. The new Business Park will cover 17.7 acres of land.
