Mumbai: As the auspicious occasion of 'Chhath Puja' begins, the overall air quality index (AQI) of Mumbai was reported in the 'Good' category, according to data from the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR). However, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) recorded the AQI at 203 in the Bandra Kurla Complex, placing it in the 'Poor' category on Thursday. Other areas, including Chembur, recorded an AQI of 120, which falls in the 'Moderate' category. The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Airport (T2) recorded an AQI of 123, also in the 'Moderate' category, while Worli recorded an AQI of 131, similarly classified as 'Moderate'. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a mainly clear sky in Mumbai today. The maximum temperature is expected to reach 35 degrees Celsius, with a minimum temperature of 22 degrees Celsius. Relative humidity is predicted to fluctuate between 52 percent and 76 percent.

Mumbai Civic Body On Alert According to a Mid-day report, as air pollution levels continue to worsen in Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has revised guidelines issued last year for construction sites. The civic body will also establish ward-level squads to inspect construction sites and take action if guidelines are violated. Sensor-based air pollution monitoring systems will be installed at all construction sites, with immediate action to be taken if pollution levels exceed the permitted limit.You may also like
