Nithya Menen reveals she doesn't give importance to looksNithya Menen shares she puts very little makeup on her face and there's no thinking or thought behind it. She shares, "I honestly forget. Even before coming, we were taking some pictures and I realised I'd forgotten to do my eye (makeup) and lipstick. I just did something and then I got distracted. So I went and I said come, come come let's take pictures and then before coming here I realised I didn't put any makeup on, it's looking like I just got up and I said let me put some kaajal. I don't really think about it, I think I naturally don't attach any importance to looks. Even when I look at other people. My eyes can't see looks - I can see who they are. I can feel their vibe."Sharing her definition of beauty, Nithya added, "I feel I find some people so beautiful and I can see it in their eyes. I see who they are and I feel their energy, when I see their eyes, I see qualities in them. And to be very honest, that's what I'm able to see. Very rarely, I'm able to look at someone. Even in college, I remember people saying, oh that guy looks nice and I used to ask. I don't even know who he is, I can't look at him in that way. So maybe, I attach very little importance to looks. If I put makeup on or If I dress up - it's only because the work or the job asks me to do that, so I have to do it. But, I don't care what I look like. I think there's so much that I can offer in terms of artistry and the creativity that I'm able to offer. So, I feel I don't attach." Nithya Menen reveals she never followed the industry's beauty standardsDuring the interview, Nithya Menen explained why she didn’t succumb to the pressures of the Industry to look a certain way and never followed their beauty standards. "I feel this pressure only comes from the inside. If we don't have pressure from inside - it doesn't matter what people say, we won't accept it. Like, if I feel I am fat, then when people say 'Oh, you have put on weight', I feel ya they are right. So, I suffer with it. So, the pressure always comes from inside. We have to work on the inside and not try to change everybody because things are said because people can't take someone doing better than them. I understand it, it makes you feel you are not good enough and whatever. But when anyone does something, there are very few people who are able to appreciate and clap their hands and say 'Well done, you're doing so well' and appreciate it." ALSO READ: Nithya Menen on dealing with criticismNithya Menen went on to reveal her mantra to deal with criticism. She shared, "Only people who are doing better than you will do that, they will appreciate you. People who are criticising you remember and this is my go-to and this is my secret - I always remind myself no one who is doing better than you will ever criticise you, they will always appreciate you. They will say something nice about you, they will see something nice about you. It's always the people who are not achieving anything, they will have a lot to say. So, whoever it is, it can be anyone. But, it's not easy, it takes years to sort of grow and achieve that. But slowly, with maturity, you will start to realise that all of that noise and people say things, is so useless. If you're someone who is doing something with your life, then you must realise how useless these voices are."Nithya went on to add the message for her fans and said, "The only thing I hope would be an achievement of me being here because I never wanted to be a star or an actress or anything. The only thing I hope to give to people is that maybe they look at me and they feel - It's okay to be myself. It's okay to be me. And I can be me and still achieve anything - If that is something that I can make people feel, that feels like a trophy to me."
