Agra: A 24-year-old auto driver was arrested for allegedly strangling a 22-year-old fellow auto driver, who had an impaired leg, after an altercation over passengers in Agra's Shahganj area, police said on Monday.
The incident took place on Sunday following a dispute between the deceased, Chotu Khan, and the accused, Rajkumar Mahaur, over picking up passengers. Police said that after a verbal confrontation, Chotu left the vicinity with his passengers. However, Rajkumar pursued Chotu near Mansarovar Colony in Shahganj, intercepted him, assaulted, and strangled him, before absconding.
Upon receiving an alert from locals, Chotu's brother Naeem Khan took him to SN Medical College, where doctors pronounced him dead. Based on Naeem's complaint, a case was registered against Rajkumar under section 103 (1) of BNS for murder.
Shahganj SHO Kushal Pal Singh said, "We received intelligence that the accused was seen on the Fatehpur Sikri Road in the Pathauli area of Agra on Monday. A team from the police station reached the spot and arrested the accused. We have also seized his auto. He has been taken into custody and will be presented before the court."
