Shamli: A 45-year-old man and his two associates were arrested for the murder of his second wife, whose skeletal remains were found on Sunday evening. Muskan, 28, had been missing since Feb 18 and her disappearance coincided with the cancellation of her husband Mohammad Rizwan's bail in an old criminal case, police said on Monday.
Following Muskan's sudden disappearance, her uncle, Noor Hasan, had lodged a missing person's complaint, naming Rizwan as a suspect. During an interrogation on Sunday, Rizwan confessed to the crime.
SP (City) Amit Kishore Srivastava said, "Rizwan killed Muskan with the help of two associates, Radhe Shyam and Ram Avatar, paying them Rs 70,000 each for their assistance. They strangled her to death and buried the body in the Narao area. To conceal his crime, Rizwan spent 27 days in jail after his bail was revoked. A case has been registered against them under Section 103 of the BNS for murder and destruction of evidence and the trio were sent to jail.
Rizwan, a resident of the Galam Patti area in Ujhani, Budaun, had married Muskan around four years ago. Due to his first wife Zainab's strong disapproval, Rizwan maintained separate households for both women.
"Rizwan was under financial strain and had a three-year-old son with Muskan. Rizwan would provide Mukan with about Rs 10,000 for monthly expenses, However, she demanded Rs 40,000 for their child's upbringing, leading to frequent disputes between them. Frustrated by the ongoing conflict, Rizwan ultimately decided to eliminate her," the SP said.
