Jaisalmer: The bodies of a married woman and her alleged lover were found hanging from a tree under suspicious circumstances late Monday night in the Sajiyali border area of Balotra district's Pachpadra police station limits.
Police suspect the two died by suicide due to a romantic relationship. The deceased were identified as Pavni Devi (30), wife of Ummedaram Bhil, and Mewaram (26), son of Suresh from Thapan village. The woman was married with two children, while the man was unmarried.
According to DSP Ashok Joshi, villagers informed police after discovering the bodies, which appeared to be two days old and were showing signs of decomposition. The bodies were sent to Nahata Hospital and later moved to Balotra District Hospital's mortuary.
"The initial investigation suggests a romantic relationship between the two. The circumstances point to suicide, but we are probing all angles," said Joshi.
A case has been registered based on statements from the families, police said. Post-mortem examinations were conducted Tuesday, after which the bodies were handed over to their families.
