Bhilwara: Two children drowned after falling into a water-filled pit Friday in Bag Ka Jhupadiya village of the Shakkargarh police station area in Bhilwara district.
Rajesh Arya, ASP of Shahpura, stated that 9-year-old Siyaram, and 13-year-old Gangaram, residents of Bag Ka Jhupadiya village in the Shakkargarh police station area, went near a water-filled pit close to the village while playing on Friday afternoon. Both fell into the pit and drowned.
A young boy named Vikas was present during the incident and informed the villagers after his friends drowned. Upon receiving the news, a large number of villagers arrived at the scene and informed the police. The police team also reached the site, and with help of the villagers, both children were retrieved from the pit and taken to the community hospital in Jahazpur, where doctors declared them dead.
The village was engulfed in mourning after the news. Police conducted post-mortems on the bodies and handed them over to the families.
The deceased child Siyaram Bheel was the only child of his father, and his mother passed away several years ago. Siyaram was a 5th-grade student excelling in both academics and sports, being selected at the district level for kho-kho this year. The other deceased child, Gangaram, was a 6th-grade student.
